The 24th annual Knowledge Bowl was a big success with Brent Snow emceeing the event and a packed audience of students, families, friends and teachers.

The Friday Harbor High School Jazz Band opened the event as well as entertained the audience during intermission.

And, the Friday Harbor Middle School PTA offered delicious baked goods throughout the evening.

Teams made up of middle school and high school students went head to head with the Kiwanis, Lions, Rotary and Soroptimist to answer challenging questions on a wide range of topics.   This year Spring Street International School was invited to participate (and boy are they smart).

All the contestants marched onto the stage in very clever costumes competing for the best costume award. As in the past couple of years the eighth grade class won best costume, with the Rotary Club coming in a close second this year.

The winning team with the most “knowledgeable” answers was the Soroptimists.

A highlight of the event was the presentation of a check representing $127,404 in funds allocated to programs from K-12. These funds support math and science, language arts, textbooks, and other necessities not within the district’s tight budget.
