Knowledge Bowl – March 8, 2022!

It’s time for the 27th Annual Knowledge Bowl! Think island-style Jeopardy! Fun, laughs, root for your favorite team! Will it be the Lions, Spring Street International School Students, Kiwanis, FHMS, Rotary, FHHS, or the Soroptimists? Come enjoy music by the high school jazz band and a raffle including prizes from Roche Harbor, San Juan Island Brewing Co., Gourmet Galley, and more! Tuesday, March 8th – starting at 6:30 ! Tickets at the door are $5 – all proceeds go to support your schools!  Fun for the whole family! Proof of vaccination and masks required for entry.

Why we do what we do

A note from Lisa Salisbury, Library Media Specialist: Dear Public Schools Foundation, Thank you for the most recent grant to purchase updated nonfiction books for the Middle-High School Library!  Our collection was very much in need of updated health and psychology books to support both the health classes and also general student interest. Many of these wonderful books were immediately checked out to students and never made it to the shelves!  There has been a growing demand for books on these topics and it is important to support student interest and research with current, relevant and high quality print resources.

Phone-A-Thon Coming Soon! October 16 & 17

It’s that time of year! The San Juan Public Schools Foundation will hold its annual Phone-A-Thon on Tuesday, October 16th, and Wednesday October 17th, from 5 to 8:00 pm. During this time, volunteer students, parents, faculty and members of the community will be calling to ask for your support. The Foundation is a group of volunteer parents, educators, business leaders, and community sponsors who raise money to make a difference in the classrooms of our school children. FHHS Aerospace Design Team – 2nd Place at International Space Settlement Design Competition World Championship

The San Juan Public Schools Foundation wants to congratulate the Friday Harbor High School Aerospace Design Team on their outstanding performance at the International Space Settlement Design Competition World Championship! Partnered with teams from Texas, Colorado, Pakistan, India & the UK they placed 2nd, by a narrow margin between 1st & 2nd. We are so proud to have been a part of their journey. Update! FHHS Aerospace Design Team in ISSDC

From the San Juan Island School District: The Friday Harbor High School Aerospace Design Team has passed the 24-hour mark of the 42-hour International Space Settlement Design Competition world championship (ISSDC). Held at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, the ISSDC brings in 250 high school students from nine countries to take part in an aerospace industry simulation. Their mission: form multinational teams of 60 in order to design a space settlement for 18,000 residents on the moon. The San Juan Public Schools Foundation congratulates the Friday Harbor High School Aerospace Design Team for their outstanding win in the Northwest Semi-Finals of the International Space Settlement Design Competition (ISSDC).  The Foundation is proud to sponsor the team’s trip to compete for a World Championship at ISSDC, held at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in late July.
