Knowledge Bowl: February 10th!

The 21st annual Knowledge Bowl starts at 7pm on February 10th at the Community Theatre. Doors open at 6:30, with a bake sale & the FHHS Jazz Band at 6:45! Three student teams (FHMS 8th graders, FHHS freshmen/sophomores and FHHS juniors/seniors) go head to head with four local service group teams: Kiwanis, Soroptimists, Lions, and Rotary. The four-man teams will match wits to answer tricky trivia questions on a broad range of topics.Doors open at 6:30 pm and our fabulous FHHS Jazz Band will begin performing at 6:45. Soccer: Excellent on the field AND in the classroom!

Celebrate academic excellence on our soccer fields! Congratulations to the FHHS Girls AND Boys Varsity Soccer teams, who were named 2014 Washington 2B State Academic Champions this fall. This means our Wolverines have the best team GPA of all the 2B schools in the state. And they  headed strong into the playoffs after finishing 1st (girls) and third (boys) in their league. Both finished in the Final Four of the State Playoffs! Great teams, great students!

LEOs pitch in to help the Foundation

For the fifth year, the LEOs (the high school service club affiliated with the San Juan Lions Club) has made a donation to SJPSF – this year’s $500 check was presented by advisors John Towson and John Bostrom, advisors and FHHS senior & LEOs president Isabel Gabriel to SJPSF chair Nancy Young and SJPSF vice-chair Mike Taylor in November. This year’s donation is earmarked to support FHHS teacher Andy Anderson’s Art Program. Thanks!

A big Phone-A-Thon THANK YOU!!!

The Phone-a-Thon, held on October 7th & 8th, was awesome! We brought in $42,000 in pledges this year. As they say, “It takes a village!” Thank you to this amazing community! Volunteer students, parents, and educators spent hours at our call center this year. A big thanks to them as well! The generous support of islanders has enabled the organization to continue supporting education on San Juan Island in numerous ways.
